Wellbeing Co-ordinators deliver Christmas Hampers

Our Wellbeing Co-ordinator programme engages older people in conversations about their health and aims to make a positive impact on their mental, social and physical wellbeing.

Over the Christmas period, our Wellbeing Navigators visited some of their most vulnerable clients to deliver a Christmas hamper designed to help them combat the winter chill.

JoyceOne of the clients visited was 84-year old Joyce. Joyce became isolated as she was no longer able to go on the local bus service as it was too far from her house. She also did not have her family nearby to help. The Wellbeing Coordinator service registered Joyce for the Ring & Ride service and she has now been able to go out and meet with family and friends and do her own shopping which has allowed her to become more independent again. Joyce is also looking to join a social group close to her home now that she has the opportunity to access transport that will pick her up from her house.

MaryAnother client visited was 76-year old Mary. She lives in a block of flats on the second floor and was unable to leave her flat. Mary suffers from a variety of health problems and is a stroke survivor. Having no family or friends to visit Mary had become very isolated and depressed. Mary also had other personal and confidential issues which needed to be addressed. These were a priority for the Wellbeing Navigator and have now been resolved. The Wellbeing Navigator also arranged for Mary to attend one of the local Stroke Groups and registered her for the Ring & Ride Service. Mary has now made friends with members of the group.
